Munich, Part One – Gardens Galore

“Most of the luxuries, and many of the so-called comforts of life, are not only not indispensable, but positive hindrances to the elevation of mankind. With respect to luxuries and comforts, the wisest have even lived a more simple and meager life than the poor.”  Henry David Thoreau I know the blog posts haven’t been…

Venice, Part Three – Venice At Night

“Dreams are the touchstones of our characters.” – Henry David Thoreau Prior to arriving in Venice, I had a vision in my mind of wandering around the streets and capturing some images at night. I decided to pony up the money and get a hotel room in the city so I could come and go…

Melissa (Cobb) Rhodes - Jake, all of these shots are awesome! I can see all of them hung in huge frames. Beautiful! Your blog posts about Venice inspired me to learn more about this place. I took to Netflix and, along with my daughter, watched a documentary (Ancient Mysteries: Canals of Venice) about Venice’s history. It was fascinating and made me want to make the trip to Venice before the rising water takes its toll. If nothing else, I want to take my family to a place where their perseverance was evident just in the fact that the city exists at all! Awesome city, awesome pictures!

Milan – One Amazing Day

“The joy of life consists in the exercise of one’s energies, continual growth, constant change, the enjoyment of every new experience. To stop means simply to die. The eternal mistake of mankind is to set up an attainable ideal.” – Aleister Crowley After Genoa, I took a couple of days to relax in a small…

Cinque Terre & Genoa – The One Redo I Want

“Experience is how life catches up with us and teaches us to love and forgive each other.”  -  Judy Collins In an effort to be open and honest about my travel experiences, I’ll disclose the fact that I had some bad days along the way. I was excited when I woke up early in Pisa,…
