I arrived in Naples late at night and had Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra playing on my ipod. After a good night’s sleep I headed out to see the sights in the city. I was pretty blown away by the San Severo chapel and the incredible art pieces inside. Unfortunately, they were ultra strict about cameras so I don’t have anything to show you. But the website is here.
After that, I wandered around for a while and finally booked a tour of the Naples underground for about $10. It was pretty amazing to walk through huge caverns under the city where people hid during the world wars.
From there, I headed over to the National Archaelogical Museum to check out many of the ruins from Pompeii and the other parts of the area. And finally I made my way through the rain to Da Michelle Pizza for some of the touted original Margherita style pizza. I discovered later that this is the place referenced in the book and movie “Eat, Pray, Love”. I ordered up a pizza and thoroughly enjoyed the indulgence.
And here are some photos from my wonderful day in Napoli.
