Cefalu – Simple Coastal Beauty And Friendly Germans

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” — Leonardo da Vinci

After several great days in Palermo, I headed on to Cefalu, a beautiful little town on the northern coast of Sicily, for what was to be one day.  Within two hours I decided to add a second day to my trip.

I met two very nice German ladies at my B&B when I checked in.  Then I walked around for a while and went up the ancient stronghold of La Rocca.  I enjoyed the spectacular view for quite a while.

Later on, I went down the beautiful coastline and spent some time just soaking in my surroundings.  As I sat there taking in one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen while listening to the waves rhythmically crash on the shore, I couldn’t help but think how amazing life can truly be in its simple beauty.

On the way back to the hotel, I ran into my new German friends and they took me to a place where I could get some very good food and wine for very little money.

The next day I explored some more where I found some cool boats to photograph and also enjoyed some of the best gelato I’ve ever tasted.  Later that night, I made my way back to the shore as the moon rose and let the waves sing a beautiful lullaby.

Here are some photos from Cefalu.
