Istanbul, Part Four – Istanbul After Dark

“We are such stuff as dreams are made on…”  - William Shakespeare, The Tempest

There is a different vibe in Istanbul after the sun goes down.  The city seems to take a deep breath after all of the hustle and bustle of the day.  Many of the tourists are indulging themselves at the various restaurants and pubs.

I have rarely felt safer after dark in such a huge city than I did inIstanbul.  There is a change in how the city’s energy seems to flow and I loved the shift.  It is almost as if there are two different cities, one for the day and one for the night.

I plan to get back there someday to spend more time enjoying the whole of the city, but especially the night life.  And the amazing thing is that I’ve talked to so many people who have visited the city and feel the same way.  There is just something about Istanbul.

The big thing for me is the beauty of how the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia both shine in the darkness.  I took the photos below over two different nights.
